Start to add new posts soon!

My computer just restarted itself before I can submit the content! :(

I have not added new posts to this blog for almost half a month. I should be responsible but my laptop is not working properly and I was busy for moving and other stuff. Hopefully today I will get all the necessary programs for blogging on this desktop and tomorrow I will start add new posts. I have lots of pictures to share!

Surprise Party

Yesterday I threw a surprise birthday party for my husband. I asked some of his friends to hide in our place before we went back home. Also I cooked a lot at home and ordered a cake but pretended not doing anything for his birthday. When we arrived home, I told him I needed to go to bathroom so I could sneak into our place first. He was really surprised. When we jumped out saying "Happy Birthday" as he walked in, he was standing there and shocked for a second or two.

We had a wonderful night with friends. Here is the menu for the party.

Birthday party menu for 5
Preparation time: 4 hours

冷菜 (Appetizer/Cold dish):
1。双拼:黄瓜段+切片浇汁红烧牛肉 (half and half: cucumber + beef cooked with soy sauce and sugar)
2。双拼:糟毛豆+凉拌海蜇 (half and half: boiled soy bean in wine + jellyfish)
3。双拼:油爆虾+素包(腐皮包香菇开洋丁)(half and half: fried shrimp + chopped mushroom and dried shrimp wrapped in tofu skin)

热菜:清蒸海鲈鱼 (Hot dish: steamed sea bass)

汤:暖锅(清鸡汤+章鱼丸,鱼豆腐,白菜,油豆腐,冻豆腐,蘑菇,蟹肉棒,干贝)(Soup: chicken soup with fish ball, fish tofu, kapa, fried tofu, frozen tofu, mushroom, crab stick, and dried scallop)

生日蛋糕 (Birthday cake)

水果拼盘(葡萄,樱桃,菠萝) (Fruit: grape, cherry and pineapple)

Since it is a surprise party, I cannot cook a lot of hot dishes since I was out with him when friends sneaked in. So I prepare more appetizers (cold dishes) and a big soup. Then I put the soup on top of a electrical stove top during the dinner. So friends did not freeze after eating so many cold dishes.

I should have taken some pictures for the food. But the thing is that his friends finished all the food even before I had the chance to get to my camera. Have to say sorry here.

I never saw my husband so surprised. I think this is a birthday he will never forget. :D Task sucessfully done!

Days in Shanghai - 1

Days in Shanghai passed so quickly.

I wrote down some stuff in Shanghai. I think I will post them later. Everything in Shanghai is like a dream to me. When I walked with the crowd in the subway station, I just followed my heart. I don't need to think in this city - a place I lived for more than 20 years.

Everything is changing in Shanghai. Classmates who used to talk about love stories are talking about how to buy the best furniture in Shanghai. Old roomates are preparing for new-borns. Less and less friends are single. So I have to meet families most of the time. Grandparents are in nursing home: they are quite old now. Parents are older but so happy to see me back home. All my parents-in-law care is the next generation of the family.

My heart hurts to write these down. I know I am missing part of my life in Shanghai. I am missing the chance to get older together with my family and my friends. I don't hate my life here. I enjoy the pure and simple life here. However, I am still thinking of the life in Shanghai. :D Maybe I am too greedy.

More to come tomorrow...
